Roberto Flores De la Cruz was born in San Buenaventura Coahuila,Mexico. At 17 he move to Kendal Saskachewan to go to Montmartre School. After learning English he returned to Mexico to study at the Institution Culinario De Mexico in Monterrey Nuevo León, México for two years. He went on to cook at his family's restaurant and spent time with a catering company before opening his own  restaurant/bar "el Tropezon"  in  2011 with the help of his family and wife, Valeria Romo. In 2015 Flores returned to Canada.
